James Bond Signs 10 Year Deal With Random House
The estate of Ian Fleming has signed a new 10 year deal with the Random House Group imprint Vintage to publish his 14 James Bond books along with two non-fiction books. This will be a return home for James Bond, where Casino Royale was originally published in 1953.
2012 will be a big year for 007. The film Dr. No will be celebrating its 50th birthday and the new film Skyfall will be released later on this year.
“We are delighted to be reuniting James Bond with his original publisher,” said Corinne Turner, managing director of Ian Fleming Publications Ltd.
“This new deal, incorporating both print and e-book formats, represents a significant step-change for Ian Fleming and his work,” Turner added.
The deal includes exclusive rights to the James Bond book series in English for all countries except the United States and Canada.
The books will be re-released under the regular Vintage paperback imprint and also under Vintage Classics. They will, of course, also be released as eBooks.
The new contract will take affect in April, when Vintage will take over from the Penguin Group.
