Kate Ellis Synopsis: The Merchant’s House by Kate Ellis is the first novel to feature D.S. Wesley Peterson. Most black officers might not want a transfer to the West Country, but it’s home for Wesley Peterson. Soon after his move, he bumps into a friend named Neil who is heading a dig at a Tudor merchant’s house. Wesley has to pull himself away in order to look for a missing child. A body is found at Neil’s dig, but it’s over 400 years old. More than 400 years ago, someone strangled a young woman and her newborn baby. But then, a more contemporary body is found and the child’s disappearance begins to become more complex.
