I’ve been trying to find a Dick Francis novel about a young man whose father is trying to become prime minister. The young man saves his father from several threats and in the process they become much closer. ???
Trying to remember the titles of two mysteries.
• In the first, a jockey has been riding for a
Princess for many years. The Princess niece
comes to London. The jockey and the niece fall in love.
• In the second, the Princess’ husband is being
pressured to switch his business into making
pistols. The niece is having second thoughts and
getting cold feet.
What are the titles?
You are thinking of Break In and Bolt
Good Day:
I have been a Dick Francis fan for a.very long time.
I seem to remember a book he wrote where the protagonist was a man who took part in shooting competitions. His wife was desperate to become pregnant.
In looking through his titles I apparently am overlooking it. Could you supply me with the title?
Thank you.
Bettie Gibson
Hey Bettie,
The book is Twice Shy
It’s a great book. Enjoy!

In everything I read regarding Mr. Francis, his wife Mary,,did an extensive amount of research for him for the settings of his books. Nowhere has it ever said she helped or co-wrote the books with him. I’ve also read that after her death he lost his drive to a write since she was an intergeral part of the settings.
It’s my understanding while Mr. Francis was alive he and his son Felix wrote the first 4 Sid Haley books and he published the 5th one under his fathers name but Felix did write it. Interestingly, Mr. Francis also collaborated with his wife, Mary on other books.
