Lawrence Hill
Lawrence Hill is a Canadian author of fiction and non-fiction books, in addition to being a journalist. His writing mostly deals with identity issues, being that his parents were a mixed race couple who emigrated from Washington, D.C. in 1953. Lawrence has originally dreamed of becoming an Olympic runner, but he never fulfilled that dream, despite years of training. Instead, he became writing on his mother’s typewriter and finished his first story at 14. Lawrence earned his B.A. in economics from Laval University in Quebec City and his M.A. in writing from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Having grown up in Don Mills, Ontario, he has lived and worked all across Canada, as well as Baltimore, Spain and France. Lawrence splits his time with his family between Hamilton, Ontario and Woody Point, Newfoundland.

Lawrence Hill made his debut as a published novelist in 1992 with the novel Some Great Thing. Below is a list of Lawrence Hill’s books in order of when they were originally released:

Lawrence Hill Synopsis: In Any Known Blood by Lawrence Hill, Langston Cane V is a 38-year-old divorced speechwriter. That is, until he is fired for sabotaging a minister’s speech. The timing is perfect for Langston, who is the son of a white mother and a black father, to go explore his roots. The story follows a family for five generations from the Virginia slave trade during the 19th century to the predominantly white Toronto suburb of Oakville – at one time the final stop on the Underground Railroad.
