Lea Wait (1946-2019) was an American author of historical fiction and mystery novels for adults and children. She wrote the Antique Print Mysteries and the Mainely Needlepoint Mysteries series. Lea grew up reading historical fiction, as well as attending antique auctions with her grandmother, so she’s always lived in the past in one way or another. While on the Maine coast, she dreamt of becoming a marine biologist, until she got interested in politics and wanted to become a politician. Regardless of whatever else she did, Lea always wanted to be a writer. She majored in drama and English at Chatham College in Pittsburgh and did her graduate work in American Civilization at New York University. In 1998, Lea decided to leave the corporate world behind in order to run an antique print business and write on a full-time basis, while living in Maine.
