John Crow Synopses: A Lover Too Many by Roy Lewis is the first book in the John Crow series. When Peter Marlin finds his wife strangled, suspicion falls heavily on him. After all, she had only recently returned home after a several month-long absence that was never explained; and during that time Peter had taken up with someone else. After the inquest, Inspector Crow of Scotland Yard arrives to investigate further.
Error of Judgment by Roy Lewis is the second John Crow novel. Robert Fanshaw, an Inspectors of Schools, was not expecting anything different on his visit to Burton Polytechnic until he found himself caught up in a student demonstration and the discovery of the body of the Principal’s attractive secretary in the lift. Suspicion immediately falls on several of the Heads of Departments, and Inspector Crow had little doubt who the guilty party is. As Crow hunts his man, a final twist of fate brings yet another aspect to the situation, making Crow realise that the HMI’s role of trained observer has its uses.
