Virgil Flowers Synopses: The second book of the Virgil Flowers series, Heat Lightning has Virgil sent out to Stillwater to investigate a victim who has been shot in the head twice near a veteran’s memorial. There is a lemon in the victim’s mouth. The scene is not unfamiliar to Virgil, as they found an identical one last week. Can Virgil find out who will be next on the killer’s hit list and stop him before he strikes again?

In Rough Country (book three of the Virgil Flowers series), Virgil is in a fishing tournament in a remote part of Minnesota when he receives a call from Lucas Davenport. A woman has been shot while kayaking at a nearby women’s only resort. Virgil must dig to find out some of the possible motives behind this killing (of which there are many). He also finds out that this is not the first murder of this type and perhaps not the last.

I have read all the Prey books as they came out. Just started registering to them all on Audobooks. Then on to Virgie. Thank you for the nightly entertainment.

I read all of the “Prey” series and have just started on the Virgil Flowers series. I must say – I like Virgil Flowers a lot better than Davenport. In the Davenport books, Sandford’s portrayal of almost every female was disgusting. Nearly every one of them was sexually aggressive with a filthy mouth – even the young girls. And every description included the size/shape of their “tits”, “headlights”, “cupcakes”, etc, or the use of the word “pussy”, which Sandford loves and most women abhor. Virgil Flowers is a more gentle, sensitive, and decent character than Davenport. I really like the Flowers series a lot more than the “Prey” series. Would like to see them made into movies.

John Sandford thank you so much for the many hours of enjoyment you have provided for me with Lucas and that f*****g Flowers.I started many years ago and have recently retired so I now have a list,in order,of all your books so I can get their lives in order as I read.
Would love to see a tv series with Virgil as I loved the Harry Bosch series.Virgil is so much lighter to understand and I love the comedy thrown in that makes it easier reading.
I have read 6 Virgil and 8 Prey along with I don’t know how many Bosch.
You keep writing and I’ll keep reading and dicussing your books with my friends and strangers who ask about my Kindle that never leaves my side.

I have almost all of John’s Davenport, Flowers and Kidd books as well as Night Crew and Dead Watch. Love them all although personally am less keen on Kidd except when the interaction with Davenport worked well and was fun (with a twist).
Regret that no one appears to be making them into a movie. Hard to imagine the right actors although I think Clive Owen might do Davenport justice providing Sandford did the screenplay.
The thing I find is that almost all of the characters are so well written. I love Del and Sloan and even Jenkins and Shrake.
You are a very, very talented man john Sandford so thank you so much for the pleasure you have given me over the years.

I’ve just finished my first John Sandford book, Storm Front, and I’m hooked! The fact I live in Rochester MN helps. I love the way he writes so comfortably about this great state, I feel I’m going to bump into John at the local Qwik-Trip. Keep up the wonderful work! God bless!
