Order of Rick Stein Books
Rick Stein is an English celebrity chef, TV host, and restaurateur who has written numerous cookery books as well as his biography, Under a Mackerel Sky: A Memoir.
Stein got his start after college in the town of Padstow, a fishing port on the north coast of Cornwall in the United Kingdom. Stein and a friend had a quayside nightclub that become known for its freeze-dried curries. The night club was the sight of frequent brawls between fishermen though and it was shutdown by the police. Luckily, the two still had the restaurant license and began running that to avoid bankruptcy. That restaurant eventually became The Seafood Restaurant in 1975 and still exists there today.
After having a good amount of success and appearing on Keith Floyd’s television series as a guest, he was offered his own travelogue style cookery show by BBC Television. This caused a rift between him and Floyd, but lead to numerous successful shows including Rick Stein’s Taste of the Sea, Fruits of the Sea, Seafood Odyssey, Fresh Food, Seafood Lovers’ Guide, Food Heroes, French Odyssey, Mediterranean Escapes, Far Eastern Odyssey, Rick Stein’s Spain and Rick Stein’s India.
