If You Like Valeria Luiselli Books, You’ll Love…
Faces in the Crowd is the book that put Luiselli on the map. The book tells of a young mother living in Mexico City that is writing a novel about her time working as a translator in Harlem. She was a translator at a small independent press company, but it is Luiselli who makes the book come to life with her beautiful and melancholy contemplation on disappearance.
One of Luiselli’s best reviewed books has been Lost Children Archive. The book tells of a small family driving from New York to Arizona in the blistering summer. They are headed Apacheria, where the Apaches once lived. Along their trip, the radio speaks of an immigration crisis as thousands of kids are trying to cross the border into the United States and ending up lost in the desert. The father and mother are having a crisis of their own, and the family is hanging on by a thread as they make this trip. While the trip itself takes them where they weren’t quite expecting to go – on a harrowing adventure.
