If You Like Yoon Ha Lee Books, You’ll Love…
Ninefox Gambit is the first book in The Machineries of Empire series. This book sees Capt Kel Cheris taking over Kel Command and looking for some redemption. Her unconventional tactics have earned her disgrace in the past and taking back the Fortress of Scattered Needles from the heretics is her shot at redemption. It’s also really important as the fortress may be the last thing keeping the hexarchate from being taken over. Cheris aligns with the undead tactician Shuos Jedao, undefeated in battle, to win this one – a move that may come back to haunt her.
Yoon also wrote Dragon Pearl under the Rick Riordan Presents banner. This book can best defined as a space opera about a 13-year old named Min who comes from a long line of fox spirits. However, her mother insists that she never use her fox-magic and appear human at all times, for the family’s own safety. When word comes down that her brother Jin has left his post in the Space Forces to pursue the Dragon Pearl, Min knows that something is wrong and that he needs her help.
