Three-Fifths tells the story of a biracial black man who is passing for white. He’s the son of a black man that he’s never known and a white mother that he prefers that he didn’t. When his friend is released from prison, he is forced to deal with some lies of his past and deal with the truth of his present. Bobby has always passed for white thanks to the bigoted grandfather who raised. He’s been hiding his true identity his entire life and that gets complicated when his best friend returns from prison as a white supremacist. Bobby’s whole world changes when he sees his friend assault a young black man with a brick. He begins to fear for his life and is desperate to keep his secret from his friend, even going so far as to help conceal the crime from the police. Bobby is doing his best to keep all of this under wraps until the day his father returns to town and his life.
