The Crosssword Murder is the first book in the Crossword Mysteries series of books. The book starts with a playboy named Thompson C. Briephs who has been found strangled in his bed. Briephs was the crossword editor for the Newcastle Herald and the police believe he died from some sort of kinky sex gone wrong. However, a P.I. named Rosco Polycrates has a different idea about what happened. He teams up with a crossword editor named Annabelle Graham to get to the bottom of things and find a number of suspects, and a killer still on the loose.
Another popular book in the series is called A Crossword to Die For. This book sees Rosco and his wife settling into a new life. His wife has an estranged father who decides to visit, but he never ends up making it off the train. This sends Rosco’s new wife down to Florida to dispose of his effects when another body turns up dead, and they have another case to unravel.
