Shannon Work is an American author best known for writing the Mountain Resort Mysteries series of books. The series began in 2020 with the release of Now I See You.
Work attended Texas A&M University where she earned a BA in Journalism and MS in Land Economics. She went to work in the world of real estate and earned a national Best in America Living Award for one of her developments. She long had ideas about writing a novel and finally retired after her kids got out of the house to start writing. She lives with her husband and they split their time between Houston, Texas and Telluride, Colorado.

Now I See You is the first book in the Mountain Resort Mystery series. The book sees a celebrity TV anchor named Georgia Glass who is dealing with an obsessed fan. She wants out of town and gets her wish when she inherits a Victorian house in Aspen from an uncle she never knew existed. While she is exploring her new property she makes a shocking discovery: a frozen corpse. Her investigative journalist skills kick in and she helps the police track down the killer. However, her investigation will put her in the sights of the killer. Not only that, but her stalker followed her to Aspen.
The series continued with Everything to Lose. This book sees a woman named Victoria accused of murder after her husband is found dead in their home. She is determined to prove her innocence and decides to hire a detective named Jack Martin to help her solve the case. The two uncover a plot that some would kill to keep secret, and now they are in the crosshairs. Time is working against Jack to find the real killer before his client is convicted.
Wow! I just finished reading “Murder in the San Juans” and am loving Shannon Work’s writing style, stories, & unforgettable characters.
As a skier, former ski patroller, Avalanche Rescue Student, and retired resort and sports accessories sales representative, I searched “mountain resort books” this series! I feel like I hit the Jackpot! Shannon’s description of the scenery, mountain life, resort villages/towns, and how it feels to be a local or visitor is spot on!
