In Bone White by Ronald Malfi, Paul Gallo is haunted by the news of a mass murderer in the remote wilderness of Dread’s Hand, Alaska—the same area where his twin brother, Danny, vanished a year ago. Seeking closure, Paul travels to the desolate location, only to encounter superstitious locals who speak of the devil stealing souls and erect wooden crosses to keep the forest’s evil at bay. With no clear answers about Danny’s fate, Paul’s quest for the truth becomes increasingly entwined with the eerie mystery surrounding Dread’s Hand, pulling him deeper into the darkness.
Little Girls by Ronald Malfi is a standalone title. As a child, Laurie was forbidden to enter the room at the top of the stairs, one of many strict rules imposed by her cold and distant father. Now, after her father’s final desperate act, Laurie returns to claim his estate with her husband and ten-year-old daughter. However, the past seems unwilling to remain buried. Laurie senses it in the broken moldings, sees it in an empty picture frame, and hears it laughing in the moldy greenhouse deep in the woods. At first, she thinks she’s imagining things, but when her daughter befriends a girl named Abigail, Laurie is struck by the child’s uncanny resemblance to another little girl who once lived next door—a girl who died there. With each passing day, Laurie’s unease intensifies, her thoughts grow more disturbing. Is she following in her father’s footsteps, descending into madness, or is something truly sinister happening to these sweet little girls?
