Beverley McLachlin Synopses: Full Disclosure is the first Jilly Truit novel by Beverley McLachlin. Jilly Truitt, a rising star in criminal defense, thrives on taking challenging cases—especially when it pits her against her former mentor, the formidable prosecutor Cy Kenge. Though Jilly has battled personal demons from her time in foster care, she’s determined to move forward and make her mark in the courtroom. Her latest case, however, may be the toughest yet.
When Vincent Trussardi, a wealthy and enigmatic man, is charged with murdering his wife Laura, Jilly agrees to defend him. Despite warnings from friends and colleagues, and the overwhelming odds against her, Jilly is determined to win. But as she digs into Laura’s death, she’s met with frustrating obstacles, uncooperative witnesses, and mounting evidence that suggests Vincent’s guilt.
As the trial progresses, Jilly begins to suspect that someone is hiding the truth. The deeper she delves into the case, the more she uncovers shocking secrets that not only shake the foundations of the murder investigation but also threaten to upend her life. Faced with a maze of deception and personal stakes higher than ever, Jilly must figure out who is lying—and why—before it’s too late.
Denial by Beverley McLachlin is the second book of the Jilly Truit series. Jilly Truitt, now a highly sought-after criminal defense lawyer, has built her reputation by picking winning cases. When Joseph Quentin, a high-profile legal fixer, approaches her to defend his wife, Vera, Jilly’s gut tells her to refuse. Vera has been charged with killing her own mother in what’s been labeled a mercy killing, and the case seems unwinnable. Vera stubbornly denies any guilt, rejecting the lenient plea deal that would make the ordeal go away.
Despite her reservations, Jilly agrees to meet Vera and feels a strange pull toward her case. Something about Vera’s story convinces Jilly that she’s telling the truth, so she agrees to take on the case. But it won’t be easy—her former mentor, Cy Kenge, is the prosecutor, and he’s infamous for bending the rules to secure convictions.
As Jilly digs deeper, she begins to unravel hidden secrets within the Quentin family, ones that go beyond the surface of Vera’s alleged crime. But the question remains: Is Jilly’s belief in Vera’s innocence grounded in fact, or is she blinded by her own denial? With the trial looming, Jilly must race against the clock to uncover the truth, knowing that the smallest mistake could cost her everything.
Proof is the third Jilly Truitt novel by Beverley McLachlin. Jilly Truitt, a dedicated criminal defense lawyer, is now navigating the complexities of balancing motherhood and her career. Drawn into a high-profile case involving the daughter of pop star Trist Jones, Jilly takes on the defense of his ex-wife, Katie, who is accused of kidnapping their child. Trusting her instincts, Jilly must find the real kidnapper before it’s too late, while battling growing suspicions from the police that the child may be dead.
