Freya Barker Synopses: Slim to None is the first Cedar Tree novel by Freya Barker. Since moving to beautiful Cedar Tree, Colorado, Emma Young, mother of one adult daughter, has worked from home doing online bookkeeping and baking for her best friend’s diner to supplement her disability pension. Life has been pretty good—until she receives a strange phone call that sets off an alarming chain of events.
Investigator Gus Flemming is hot on the trail of a bail skip with organized crime connections, leading him to Cedar Tree. Once there, his investigation lands squarely on the gently rounded shoulders of vivacious, red-haired Emma, whose physical limitations have done nothing to dampen her zest for life. When it becomes clear that Emma is at risk, Gus doesn’t hesitate to step in and protect her. Call it a job with some very hot benefits…
Opal by Freya Barker is the first book in the GEM series. GEM agent Opal’s strengths are adaptation and infiltration. Assigned to go undercover at a youth center after several teenagers disappear, she’s shocked to recognize a ghost from her own traumatic past at the helm. However, her concern for the missing kids outweighs her fear of being recognized, and she risks her own safety to uncover the truth.
To complicate matters, an FBI agent with the Child Abduction Rapid Deployment team—someone she’s worked with before—shows up conducting his own investigation and nearly blows her cover. It takes some convincing, and cooperation is reluctant at first, but their common goal persuades them to join forces.
As they work together to expose an organized group of child molesters, they find themselves falling—for each other.
High Meadow by Freya Barker is book 1 in the High Mountain Trackers series. An emergency call to pick up an injured stallion on the side of the road sends Alexandra Hart, the new owner of Hart’s Horse Rescue, into action. A recent addition to the area, she is less than impressed when the animal’s taciturn owner shows up. With his less-than-stellar disposition, he’s the kind of man she normally avoids at all costs—unfortunately, he owns the ranch just down the road.
However, when the manhunt for a pair of escaped prisoners gets a little too close for comfort, Jonas turns out to be a better neighbor than she expected.
The Alex who shows up at his ranch to help with his prize stud’s recovery is not exactly who Jonas Harvey expected. This is the same bleeding heart he met on the side of the road. Worried she’s not up for the job, he’d prefer to keep a close eye on her, but his High Mountain Trackers team gets called in to track down a group of domestic terrorists.
But the slip of a woman proves him wrong—on all fronts. Alex not only charms his horses but him as well, and when trouble comes calling, she proves to be a worthy ally to boot.
