In the December 2019 newsletter I asked readers what the best book they read that was published in 2019 was. Here are their responses:

Gloria Chao is a Taiwanese-American author who burst on the scene with American Panda. Her books are aimed toward a younger audience with teenage Taiwanese-American girls as the protagonists.

Kacen Callender is an author out of Saint Thomas who is best known for writing YA fiction and fantasy. Callender’s book, Hurricane Child, was the Stonewall Book Award and Lambda Literary Award winner.

Gianrico Carofiglio is an award-winning novelist and former prosecutor who specialized in organized crime. He is perhaps best known as the author of the Guido Guerrieri series of books.

Karen M. McManus burst onto the scene with the smash-hit One of Us Is Lying. The young adult novel landed on the New York Times bestsellers list and was translated into over 40 languages worldwide. Se followed that book up with Two Can Keep A Secret in 2020.

H.R.F. Keating was an English author best known for writing the Inspector Ghote and Evelyn Hervey series of books. He was the recipient of the CWA Cartier Diamond Dagger for outstanding services to crime literature.
