If You Like Alex Cross Books, You’ll Love…
Alex Cross Synopses: Along Came a Spider by James Patterson is the first Alex Cross novel. Alex Cross is a homicide detective who has his a Ph.D. in psychology. He works and lives in the D.C. ghettos and many say he resembles Muhammad Ali back in his prime. He’s a tough guy from a tough part of town who wears Harris Tweed jackets and enjoys playing Gershwin tunes on his baby grand piano in his spare time. But he also has two adorable kids of his own, and they are his own special vulnerabilities.
Jezzie Flanagan is the first woman to ever hold a highly sensitive position as supervisor of the Secret Service in Washington. Blonde, mysterious, seductive, she’s got an outer shell that’s as tough as it is beautiful. When she rides her motorcycle, she’ll ride it at speeds of at least 100 mph. Is there something she’s running from? Does she have a secret?
Alex Cross and Jezzie Flanagan are about to have a forbidden love affair – at the worst possible time for both of them. Because Gary Soneji, who wants to commit the “crime of the century,” is playing at the top of his game. Soneji has outmaneuvered the FBI, the Secret Service, and the police. Who will be his next target?
Kiss the Girls by James Patterson is the second book in the Alex Cross series. A reporter investigating multiple connected murders is killed in L.A. In Chapel Hill, North Carolina, an attractive medical intern suddenly goes missing. Washington D.C.’s Alex Cross is tasked with solving the most baffling and terrifying murder case ever. Two clever pattern killers are collaborating, cooperating, competing – even on opposite coasts.
Jack and Jill is the third Alex Cross novel by James Patterson. In the middle of the night, a controversial U.S. senator is found murdered in bed in his Georgetown pied-a-terre. The police only have one clue: a mysterious rhyme signed “Jack and Jill” promising more to come. Jack and Jill are out to get the rich and famous, and won’t stop until their terrifying plan is executed.
Meanwhile, Washington, D.C. homicide detective Alex Cross heads to a murder scene only blocks from his house, far from the corridors of power where he works. This time, the victim is a beautiful little girl, savagely beaten and dumped in front of the elementary school – the one Cross’s own son attends. No one in Washington is safe – not children, not politicians, not even the President. Only Alex Cross has the skills and the courage to solve the case, but will he be able to find the truth in time?
Cat & Mouse by James Patterson is book 4 in the Alex Cross series. Gary Soneji, a prison escapee facing his final days, is looking for revenge on Alex Cross, while another deranged murderer is pursued by Thomas Augustine Pierce – an intelligent and hardworking detective who may even be better than Cross. As more bodies are found, and Cross is nearly murdered in his own home, the game of cat and mouse sets up one final trap…
The body count is high, the tension even higher, and the two killers on the loose are watching every move their pursuers make. Who is the cat, and who is the mouse? What could the the final trap be, and where is it? And who survives?

I couldn’t get Mary Mary, so went on to Cross (Alex cross). How did Alex get Little Alex back again from Christine?
Alex Cross is the best detective series out there! Love, love, love Alex Cross!!
Alex Junior was born at the end of “Pop Goes the Weasel”
I am just starting Cross Fire, I love the Alex Cross series, I started them out of series and went back, now I’m reading them in order, it really helps.
I have been reading James Patterson
Alex Cross off and own for over 50 years. I love to read anything James Patterson writs. I am now living in an assisted living community with a lot of time on my hands so I entertain myself with the wonderful James Patterson. I just tell my son what book I am ready for and he goes on Amazon and I have it the next day. I have stacks and stacks of James’s books I know I need to pass them on to the library we have here. But I just can’t seamen to part with them. I know I won’t live long enough to read all James books but I am going to try. I just pray to God. My sight stays good enough to read. A lot of the people here already can’t read. It is so sad
I have plans to read the Women Club next I have already researched it and sent my son the list. I am in pretty good health so I should able to read all the Alex Cross and the women’s murder club. I hope so. Thank u James Patterson for helping me liv my old age in peace with something to look forward to ever. I love u 🤟🏼.
I am a huge Alex Cross fan, no matter who is writing them….hopefully, they are getting paid well
Does anyone know where little Alex came from? In the book “Cross” His wife is killed when Jannie is 6 months old, then 7 to 10 years later little Alex is mentioned. No second wife or even a girlfriend is mentioned.
I stopped reading these books a few years ago – but if memory serves me correct you are talking about Ali, who is Alex Cross Jr. This was the child they had with Christine. There was big custody battles over it and all that.
They mention her in Cross Fire
Little Alex came from his girlfriend Christine who was kidnapped while they (his family and the girlfriend Christine) were in Bermuda vacationing. Little did he know that she was pregnant for him when she was kidnapped. She had the baby while in captivity for 10 months.
I dont think he’s written half thge books he’s supposed to have. I’m sure that he has two or three writers and he gives them a start on a story and then leaves them to it.
I read once that he spends a lot of time down South playing golf with D.Trump so I’m sure that doesn’t leave him much time for writing but plenty for going to the bank.
Mary, Mary … is the peak of the Alex Cross novels.
Cross Country.. I don’t think Patterson even wrote that one.
the latest book, no one is mentioning that it didn’t finish the story.. a total gimmick to get readers to buy the next one. And its not a cliff hanger. its simply Unfinished…. And I like Alex Cross.
I’m reading Cross Country right now and it is most definitely written by James Patterson. 🙂 and the part you read is a preview, his book hasn’t been published yet!!
When is the next book after Cross My Heart
Hope To Die is due out this year, although very little information is known at this point.
Hope to Die
What about cradle and all?
Hi Stacy – Cradle and All was not part of the Alex Cross series. It’s listed on our James Patterson page: http://www.orderofbooks.com/authors/james-patterson/
Thanks for the clarification.
I’m truly in love with Alex Cross and hate that I didn’t start reading them earlier
