Petit considers his story as having begun when he was diagnosed with cancer back in 1995. Petit spent the time by reading a lot around the house, including a lot of westerns. He eventually decided that he wanted to try it for himself and began writing his first book.

If You Like C.J. Petit Books, You’ll Love…
Riding Shotgun sees Lemhi County Sheriff Mitch Ward capturing a notorious outlaw gang leader by the name of Ace Carr. However, he wasn’t too pleased about it because he knew all the trouble that it would bring. The rest of Ace’s gang was still on the loose and they would surely come looking for him. While, Ace wasn’t actually wanted in Ward’s county so he would need to travel to Lewiston on the border between Oregon and Idaho Territory in order to bring him to justice. Ward heads out on a stagecoach with one of his deputies and Carr in the back. He knows that they are coming, but he is not prepared for what they will try.
Another book by Petit is Jake. This one sees a private Jake Elliot who just got relieved of duty and is heading back to the family ranch outside of Fort Benton in Montana Territory. He is shocked by the reason for his discharge which is that his mother had been murdered by his father. Now, he has plans to return home in order to hunt down his father and bring justice to his mother’s memory.
I love your books. I have read everyone of them some I have read twice I have laughed and cried while reading. I haven’t been able to see where you have written any books in several months, hope you have anew one out soon.
I love your books. Have read all of them twice. Keep up the good work.
I have every book c j has published, all 82 of them.i read very very much about six books a week.Keep them coming.
Found Joe Beck and loved them and working my way through all the rest.never thought I would enjoy cowboy books who knew xx
I discovered C.J. Petit books just a couple of months ago and have devoured the entire Joe Beck series (what a great series!) except Idaho City, which I just purchased tonight. Also read Fort Selden. I have the entire Evans Family series and quite a few standalone books I intend to read soon. I appreciate the pricing of his books is something I can afford. C.J. Petit has become one of my few very favorite authors. His characters have such a human quality that so many authors cannot achieve.
Steve
I love your books and have read almost all of them. I have a question. Are you planning on writing a fourth book in the Joe Beck saga? Surely there is more to the story.
