Carolyn Ridder Aspenson Reviews: I absolutely loved Get Up and Ghost by Carolyn Ridder Aspenson! The characters are fantastic, and the storyline is captivating. Chantilly is a wonderful protagonist—she’s a hardworking, divorced mom raising a teenage son, and she handles everything life throws at her with strength and humor. Thelma and Del add a hilarious touch to the story, making it even more enjoyable.

When Chantilly takes a tumble down the stairs at the historical society, she discovers a new, unexpected “talent”—she can now see and hear ghosts, who expect her to solve their murders. As if that wasn’t enough, she’s also juggling raising her son (who reeks after practice), organizing a BBQ competition, and dealing with an old high school rival who still holds a grudge.

This series is off to an amazing start, and I can’t wait to dive into the next book! -Heather

I was charmed by the sweet southern atmosphere in Deal Gone Dead by Carolyn Ridder Aspenson. The author’s attention to detail effortlessly transported me to Bramblett County. From the first page, I was captivated by the shocking murder of Myrtle Mae Redbeckere. My list of suspects kept growing despite the small, tight-knit community. Aspenson skillfully wove a complex web of intrigue, leaving me to revise my theories multiple times.

This is an ideal weekend read with a smooth-flowing plot and layered characters. I’m eager to dive into more books in this series. –Lynn

Whether or not you believe in spirits or the afterlife, Unfinished Business by Carolyn Ridder Aspenson is an outstanding story. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book so quickly. The lighthearted banter between the two best friends was delightful, making me wish I had someone like that in my own life. This humor balanced the emotional depth of the subject, which was handled with great dignity and sensitivity. The warmth and support Angela received from her family and friends were heartwarming. I loved this story and will definitely be following this author. -S.

Pooches, Pumpkins, and Poisons is the first book I’ve read by Carolyn, and it was a great experience. Missy, a widow, has become heavily involved in the local animal shelter after her husband’s passing, using the life insurance money to host pooch parties and organize events to help get the dogs adopted. However, not everyone in the community is a fan of her efforts. The story takes an intriguing turn when Missy discovers the body of a festival organizer. As she tries to unravel the mystery of who killed her and why, Missy finds herself questioning everyone around her. Just when she thinks she’s close to answers, more questions arise. Missy is a fantastic character, and the world she inhabits is filled with interesting people and surprising twists. I’m excited to dive into the other books in this series. -Anonymous
