Cindy Woodsmall is an American author who has written extensively about Amish people and the Amish lifestyle. She has real-life connections with Amish Mennonite and Old Order Amish families that really help in her writing.
Cindy made best friends as a young girl with Luann, a Plain Mennonite girl, who taught her the ways of the Amish and whenever the two were together, they followed Luann’s family rules. As an adult, she has made more friendships with Amish people including Old Order Amish Miriam Flaud who she coauthored the nonfiction book, Plain Wisdom: An Invitation into an Amish Home and the Hearts of Two Women.

She accepts, but she knows that it will change her relationship with her family forever. Shortly after the engagement, a tragedy strikes and Hannah is forced to question everything she has ever believed.
