If You Like David Yoon Books, You’ll Love…
Frankly In Love is Yoon’s debut novel and led to major success for his career. The book is actually based somewhat on his own upbringing and his parent’s views of his dating. He mostly had to keep it a secret and the first woman that he ever introduced his parents to was the woman that would become his wife. The book follows Frank Li, a Korean-American boy whose parents want him to end up with a nice Korean girl. He was born and raised in Southern California, but his parents still believe that he should end up with another Korean. This is a problem for Frank as he’s fallen in love wife Brit Means, a white girl. In order to keep his relationship going while also keeping his parents happy, he comes up with a scheme involving a family friend named Joy Song. Joy is in a similar bind with her parents and the two come up with a plan to fool their parents and date who they want to. Frank thinks he’s found the solution to all his problems, but soon realizes that he doesn’t really know anything at all.
