Dennis L. McKiernan is an American author of high fantasy, horror and crime fiction novels. He writes the Mithgar series. Dennis was born and raised in Moberly, Missouri. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Korean War. He then came home to earn his BS in electrical engineering from the University of Missouri and his BS in electrical engineering from Duke University. Following a bad motorcycle injury, Dennis began to write a sequel to The Lord of the Rings. Doubleday couldn’t get authorization from the J.R.R. Tolkien estate, but wanted him to move the setting and write a prequel.
