Don Bentley is an American author and former member of the U.S. Army and the Federal Bureau of Investigations. As an author, he is best known as the author of the Matt Drake Thriller series.
Bentley was a U.S. Army Apache helicopter pilot for ten years of his military career. During this time, he was stationed in South Korea, Germany, and Texas. He then was deployed to Afghanistan as a Troop Commander and ended up being awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Air Medal with “V” device for valor. Don then went to work for the FBI before leaving to work in the private sector. He has his M.F.A in Writing Popular Fiction from Seton Hill University.

Without Sanction is the first book in the Matt Drake series. The book starts with Drake at his lowest as he has broken a promise that ended up costing three people their lives and left his best friend crippled. This happened in Syria and he had to leave to try and put the memories behind him. However, he is called back into action when a Pakistani scientist wants to defect with a weapon he created to escape ISIS. The only man he trusts to get him out of Syria alive is Drake who will need to face his demons to save the man, and maybe the world.
Bentley also contributed to the Jack Ryan Universe series with his Jack Ryan Jr. novel, Target Acquired. The book sees Ryan being a loyal friend to Ding Chavez and taking his place on a mission in Israel. It’s meant to be an easy job, just assisting, but when Jack tries to help a woman and her young son; he ends up being the target of trained killers. It will take all of Jack’s skills to protect the child and himself.
