Order of Elizabeth Gilbert Books
Elizabeth Gilbert is an American author and journalist. She is best known for her breakout book, Eat Pray Love, that was a worldwide bestseller and was also turned into a major motion picture starring Julia Roberts as the lead character. Her book was so popular at that time that Time Magazine named her one of their most influential people in the world.
Gilbert attended New York University where she studied political science. More importantly, she worked on her short stories by night. She then decided that she needed to live a little and spent much of her time after college traveling around and collecting experiences for her future career in fiction. She would work in journalism for a number of years before making the move to writing novels. Before her first novel, an article of hers about bartending became the the basis for the movie Coyote Ugly.

If You Like Elizabeth Gilbert Books, You’ll Love…
Eat Pray Love was her breakout book that focused on her time in her early thirties when she realized that she despite having everything one could possibly want in life, she didn’t feel fulfilled or happy. This book tells the story of how she decided to leave it all behind and explore the world as she went on a quest for pleasure in Italy, devotion in India, and on the Indonesian island of Bali, a balance between worldly enjoyment and divine transcendence.
Another bestselling book by Gilbert is City of Girls: A Novel. This is a unique book set in 1940s New York that follows a young girl named Vivian Morris who has recently been kicked out of college. Vivian is sent to live with her aunt in Manhattan where she is introduced to an entire cosmos of unconventional and charismatic characters, from the fun-chasing showgirls to a sexy male actor, a grand-dame actress, a lady-killer writer, and no-nonsense stage manager. A personal mistake could cost her everything, but it leads to much more than that.
