The Art of Racing in the Rain features Enzo, a dog that is much different than other dogs. He is a philosopher with an almost human soul who has educated himself by watching television and listening to his master, Denny. Enzo has gained a lot of insight into the human from Denny, an up-and-coming race car driver, and has learned that racing and life are not just about going fast. Now, Enzo is on the eve of his death and Enzo takes stock of his life with Denny, Eve, and Zoe and how he worked to preserve this family.
Stein is also the author of A Sudden Light. THe book takes place twenty-three years after Trevor Riddell’s fourteenth birthday, when he got his first glimpse of Riddell House. The infamous home was built from a timber fortune and used using giant whole trees. His father, Jones Riddell, has the goal to sell off the house and property for development. The young man has different ideas though as he explores the property and believes that the land has a much different destiny. He will face the dark past of his forefathers in his attempt to reveal the key to his family’s future.
