If You Like Jill Ramsower Books, You’ll Love…

Jill Ramsower Reviews: I really wanted to love Silent Vows by Jill Ramsower because it started off so strong. Conner and Noemie have serious chemistry, but unfortunately, the steam dissipates about halfway through and doesn’t pick up again until near the end. Conner is portrayed as a serious badass, but Noemie, despite her attempts to be independent, comes across as a bit weak. It’s an okay read with a slow burn and some good side characters. -Lisa

I heard about Shadow Play by Jill Ramsower from a friend and decided to give it a try, even though I usually avoid authors’ first books due to potential editing issues. Surprisingly, this book was well edited, with only one or two minor slips. I can’t stand reading stories with frequent spelling, punctuation, grammar, or point of view mistakes.

The storyline was a pleasant surprise. If you enjoy books about Fae, you likely appreciate some consistency within the genre. While adhering to the “norms” of Fae stories, I particularly enjoyed how historical figures were woven into this version of Fae. I agree with other reviews that the beginning seemed somewhat slow and almost unnecessary, but it does introduce a great friendship and provides a reason for Rebecca’s eagerness to seize an amazing opportunity that seems to come out of nowhere.

The book definitely picks up and becomes more entertaining as you read further. Given that this is part of a duet, the characters and places are not as descriptive as they could be. The author moves the storyline along quickly to condense the world into two books. However, her writing and narrative styles suggest that this could have been great as a longer, slower-moving series.

While it’s evident that this is from a new author, I believe her style and stories will grow and become favorites for many readers. I’m looking forward to the second book in the series. -Lori

Forever Lies by Jill Ramsower is the first book in the Five Families series, but it can be read as a standalone. From the moment Alessia looks across the elevator and locks eyes with Luca, she is captivated. She senses the danger emanating from him and knows he harbors dark secrets. Little does Alessia know how much her life is about to change.

This mafia romance is impossible to put down. The intense connection between Alessia and Luca drives the story forward, and the suspense keeps you hooked from beginning to end. I’m eagerly looking forward to reading the other books in this series. I would give this book 4.5 stars. -Barbara
