If You Like Stephen Fry Books, You’ll Love…
Stephen Fry Synopses: The Liar is the debut novel from Stephen Fry. Adrian Healey is a master of deception. He lies constantly—cleverly, extravagantly, and unapologetically. Whether he’s mocking convention, rebelling against the system, or simply entertaining himself, his fabrications know no bounds. From conjuring up a long-lost pornographic novel by Charles Dickens to claiming a scandalous career as a Piccadilly rent boy, Adrian’s imagination runs wild. But when his lies entangle him in a dangerous conspiracy, fiction collides with reality, and survival becomes his greatest trick yet. A bold, irreverent debut that celebrates the art of deception, this novel is a delight for schemers and storytellers alike.
The Hippopotamus by Stephen Fry is a standalone novel. Ted Wallace is a grumpy, whisky-soaked rogue—a failed poet, washed-up drama critic, and shameless womanizer, with plenty of faults to spare. Fired from his job, drowning in unpaid alimony, and bitter at a world that fails to appreciate his brilliance, he retreats to Swafford Hall, the grand estate of his old friend Lord Logan, for a much-needed escape and an unlimited supply of booze. But something odd is happening at Swafford—miracles, healings, and inexplicable phenomena far beyond the understanding of a curmudgeonly skeptic like Ted.
In Making History by Stephen Fry, Michael Young, a gifted history student, has his world upended when he meets Leo Zuckerman, an aging physicist with a groundbreaking theory. Together, they discover the ability to reshape history and eliminate a great evil. But meddling with time is more perilous than they ever anticipated, and their actions set off a chain reaction that changes everything—past, present, and future.
Paperweight is a delightful collection of Stephen Fry’s sharp-witted and insightful articles from magazines, newspapers, and radio. This volume includes the musings of Donald Trefusis, the eccentric professor from The Liar, along with the best of Fry’s Daily Telegraph columns.
Perfect for dipping into or devouring cover to cover, this book showcases the full range of Fry’s intellect, humor, and curiosity. No matter the topic, his writing remains brilliantly entertaining and endlessly engaging.
Moab is My Washpot is a memoir by Stephen Fry. Fry has already given readers a taste of his tumultuous adolescence in his autobiographical first novel, The Liar, and now he reveals the equally tumultuous life that inspired it. Sent to boarding school at the age of seven, he survived beatings, misery, love affairs, carnal violation, expulsion, attempted suicide, criminal conviction and imprisonment to emerge, at the age of eighteen, ready to start over in a world in which he had always felt a stranger. One of very few Cambridge University graduates to have been imprisoned prior to his freshman year, Fry is a brilliantly idiosyncratic character who continues to attract controversy, empathy and real devotion.
