When Layla returns to town and learns that Josie has been injured, she’s determined to protect her little girl, even if it means confronting Howler. As they navigate their complicated past and the challenges of co-parenting Josie, they wonder if their history will overshadow the possibility of a bright future together as a family or if they will finally get the second chance they’ve always yearned for.

Terri Anne Browning delivers yet another captivating story that will have you engrossed from start to finish. While the book has its ups and downs, I won’t reveal any spoilers to ensure you have the pleasure of experiencing the story yourself. Catching Lucy serves as the introductory novella in the Lucy and Harris series by Terri Anne Browning. It offers a short but important glimpse into the early stages of the relationship between Lucy Thornton and Harris Cutter.

Lucy, known as the Princess Rocker, was adopted by Jesse Thornton, the drummer for the famous rock band, Demon’s Wings, after her mother’s death when she was just four years old. Her older sister took on a maternal role in her life, and Lucy’s world revolved around her adoptive family.

Harris Cutter, on the other hand, is the son of Devin Cutter, the drummer for the renowned rock band OtherWorld. The two bands, Demon’s Wings and OtherWorld, share the same manager, tour together frequently, and are like one big family. Despite their five-year age gap, Lucy and Harris grew up together and developed a deep friendship.

As Lucy reached the age of eleven and Harris was sixteen, she began to develop feelings for him, leading her to distance herself when he started dating. “Catching Lucy” picks up the story when Lucy is seventeen, and Harris has just graduated from college. He returns home with the dream of opening his own club, First Bass.

While Catching Lucy is a short novella that primarily sets the stage for the series, it doesn’t delve deeply into the characters’ development. The story serves as a brief introduction, and it may leave readers wanting more substance. Fortunately, the rest of the series has been released, allowing readers to continue the journey and explore the characters’ depth in subsequent books. It’s worth noting that the novella was free at the time of reading, and a suggestion for the author is to consider creating a box set for the series to provide readers with the option of purchasing and reading the entire series as one cohesive narrative. -Anonymous
