Burned is the first book in the Henning Juul series of books. The books follow a veteran investigative crime reporter in Oslo. He’s back on the job after a terrible tragedy where a fire killed his son, cut his face, and ended his marriage. His first day back on the job sees a body discovered in one of the city’s public parks. A female college student has been stoned to death and buried up to her neck. The brutal crime shakes the whole country and despite his own trauma, Juul is given the assignment. The victim’s boyfriend is arrested, but Henning believes him to be innocent. This wasn’t a killing in the face of adultery. It was something more complicated and darker than anything Henning has ever dreamed of.

Inborn sees a high school in a small village becoming a murder scene and a seventeen-year-old named Even is blamed. As the court of public opinion has already found him guilty, Even will pore over his memories of the months leading up to the crime. There are secrets in this small community and Even is questioning everything he knows. Was his father’s car crash death really an accident? Is there a relationship that has someone willing to kill? There is no one that Even can trust, but can we even trust him?
