Order of Hardcastle Books

Hardcastle is a series of historical mystery novels by British author Graham Ison. Set towards the end and after World War I, the series features Detective Inspector Ernest Hardcastle of the Whitehall Division of the Metropolitan Police. He works alongside Detective Serfeant Charles Marriott. The series is also known as the Hardcastle and Marriott series.

Graham Ison began his Hardcastle series in 2003 with the novel Hardcastle’s Spy. The series is currently ongoing. Below is a list of Graham Ison’s Hardcastle books in order of when they were originally released (which is the same as their chronological order):

Is it a casual robbery or are there more sinister motives for her death? A beach photographer and an army officer who was involved in the 1917 mining of the Messines Ridge in Belgium both feature high on Hardcastle’s list of suspects. And, in a parallel enquiry, a Westminster alderman makes an allegation of blackmail. Is there a connection?
