Miles Vorkosigan is the central character in a series of science fiction novels by American novelist Lois McMaster Bujold. Miles Vorksigan is a physically impaired interstellar spy and mercenary admiral from the planet Barrayar. I just recently found this series and I’ve consumed all of them in the last couple of months.
This author has the uncanny ability to almost instantly engage the reader with her characters. It must be some Jedi mind trick, because this series changes focus between several main characters (but collectively around Miles).
The series also changes subject matter concentration. Right about “A Civil Campaign”, the orientation shifts from action / adventure to inter-personal relationships. The style remains hard-to-put-down, but the flavor is definitely different. How does she DO that?
One of only a few series that I’ve read almost book-to-book. Highly recommended!
Actually, Captain Vorpatril’s Alliance should be between Diplomatic Immunity and Cryoburn. It takes place not long after the events of the former and 3 or 4 years before the latter.
Thanks for clearing that up! I think I was working off an official list with up to Cryoburn and I just added the newest book at the end.
