Order of Rick Holman Books
Rick Holman is a Hollywood private eye character created by Australian author Carter Brown. These books, often called pulp novels, featured Rick Holman involved in a variety of cases that could be called raunchy or trashy.
This type of character was a special of Carter Brown as he also created Mavis Seidlitz, Danny Boyd, and Al Wheeler who all hold their own unique places in crime ficition. Holman definitely has a cult following though and is beloved by many. The Hollywood that he investigates is as dark and seedy as the city is bright and vibrant at night. He’s never far from a job as there is seemingly always someone out there who needs his help.

If You Like Rick Holman Books, You’ll Love…
One of the earliest Rick Holman book is Murder in the Key Club. This book tells the story of Carter Stanton, the publisher of Sultan Magazine which showed the female form in all of it’s glory on a monthly basis. He considered women to be his trade as he also was the proprietor of The Harem, an exclusive club that specialized in filling men’s desires. He considered life to be a wild party with girls at his beck and call, but when a killer gets him in his sights, it’s time to call Rick Holman.
Another great story from Carter Brown is called Blonde on the Rocks. A corpse is left stone dead in the market and nobody even bothered to file an obituary in the newspaper. A Hollywood superstar who hadn’t worked in six months was just telling this to private investigator Rick Holman when this happens. It turns out someone wanted to blacklist her and they did a great job of it, but who and why? That’s up to Rick to figure out.
