With authors like E.L. James and Sylvia Day being all the rage as of late, one may wonder if some of the fiction giants will ever try their hand at erotica. John Grisham recalls his first attempt at writing a sex scene, and the review it garnered from his wife of 31 years, Renee.

“I once wrote a sex scene and gave it to her to read,” Grisham confessed. “I thought it was a really steamy, raunchy scene, but when I sneaked into the room to try to gauge her reaction she was screaming with laughter. I mean hysterical laughter. ‘You can’t write sex scenes,’ she said to me. ‘What do you know about sex?’ So people shouldn’t expect any erotic fiction from me.”
