Peter was educated at the local state school until he was 11 and then became a boarder at Geelong Grammar School – a school attended by Rupert Murdoch and Prince Charles. In 1961, he studied science for a single unsuccessful year at Monash University. During a long career in advertising, he worked for a small business that only required him to work two afternoons per week, and he could write as much as he wanted.
