Patricia C. Wrede is an American author of YA fantasy novels. She writes the Lyra and the Enchanted Forest series, and co-authors the Cecelia and Kate series. She majored in Bilogy at Carleton College in Minnesota, and started writing after she finished college. She also got her MBA from the University of Minnesota. Patricia had finished her first novel in 1978 while working as an accountant/financial analyst. Two years later, she founded the Scribblies with Pamela Dean, Emma Bull, Will Shetterly, Steven Brust, and Nate Bucklin. Patricia is a vegetarian, and currently resides in Minneapolis, Minnesota with her cats. (more…)

Desmond Bagley (1923-1983) was an English author of thriller novels. His stories were known for their fast pace and their attention to detail. Desmond started out in the aircraft industry. He then went on a road trip to Africa, and settled in South Africa for over a decade. He worked as a freelance journalist and film critic there. He moved back to England in 1964.
