Christopher Buckley is an American author of satiricial novels and non-fiction books. He graduated cum laude from Yale University in 1976. Buckley shipped out in the Merchant Marine and at age 24 became managing editor of Esquire magazine. At age 29, he became chief speechwriter to the Vice President of the United States, George H.W. David Lindsay (1876-1945) was a British author of literary fiction, science fiction and fantasy novels. He was born in London to a middle class Calvinist family from Scotland. David was educated at Colfe’s School, Lewisham. Although he was awarded a scholarship to go to university, he had to get into insurance at Lloyd’s of London due to financial reasons. Shadows of the Apt is a series of fantasy novels by English author Adrian Tchaikovsky. In this series, the universe is made up different races of humans that are named after insects, and each race (“kinden”) bears some characteristics of the insect they are named after. Kinden are categorized as “Apt” or “Inapt,” meaning they either have magical powers and are good with mechanical devices or they use magic, but can’t use anything mechanical (even a simple latch). Adrian Tchaikovsky is the pen name of British author Adrian Czajkowski, who writes fantasy and science fiction novels. He writes the Shadows of the Apt series. Adrian studied Zoology and Psychology at the University of Reading, and went onto become a legal executive. While he was the University of Reading, he ran a roleplaying game called Bugworld. It was from this story that Tchaikovsky developed his Shadows of the Apt series. He still uses this method to create his stories, as well as LARPing for his action sequences.
