Catherynne M. Valente is an American author of fantasy and science fiction novels, short stories and poetry. She writes the Fairyland series and is a New York Times bestselling author. She has won the Andre Norton, Tiptree, Mythopoeic, Rhysling, Lambda, Locus and Hugo awards. Cathrynne was born in Seattle, where she lived until she was 13, when she moved to California. She graduated from high school when she was 15 and went onto UC San Diego and Edinburgh University, earning a B.A. in Classics with an emphasis in Ancient Greek Linguistics. She has worked as a professional fortune teller, telemarketer, private tutor, librarian, waitress, bartender, actress and statistician. Dragonbreath is a series of children’s books by American author/illustrator Ursula Vernon. The series follows the adventures of Danny Dragon, a young dragon attending a school for reptiles and amphibians. Order of Ursula Vernon Books

Ursula Vernon is an American author and illustrator of children’s books and graphic novels. She writes (and illustrates) the Dragonbreath series. Ursula grew up in Oregon and Arizona. Being the daughter of an artist, she tried to rebel and become a scientist. She studied anthropology at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. She’s also known for her webcomics and work as a freelance artist, drawing anthropomorphic animals. Ursula has moved across the country multiple times, but eventually settled in Pittsboro, North Carolina. She lives with her boyfriend and several pets. (more…)

Sabaa Tahir is an English-American author of YA fantasy novels. She writes the Ember in the Ashes series. Sabaa Tahir grew up in the Mojave Desert, at her family’s 18-room motel. There, she spent her time reading tons of fantasy novels, raiding her brother’s comic book collection, and playing guitar poorly. She began writing An Ember in the Ashes while working nights as a newspaper editor. She likes thunderous indie rock, garish socks, and anything nerdy. Well it’s been a busy month work wise for me.  I haven’t read as much as I wanted.  Like I said last month I’m still working my way through Gregg Hurwitz books.  I read a couple more of his standalones.  Don’t Look Back really highlighted his writing abilities as he captures the jungles of Mexico very well.
