Laurie Cass is an American author of cozy mystery novels. She writes the Beth Kennedy and the Bookmobile Cat Mysteries series. Laurie grew up in Michigan and would be picking berries at age 12, so by comparison, sitting in a classroom reading Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden didn’t sound so bad. But soon, she learned of other authors like Dick Francis, Josephine Tey, Ellis Peters and John D. MacDonald. After working in management, Laurie decided to take an easier job and ended up bored. She used her free time to start writing. Laurie lives in Northern Lower Michigan with her husband and their cat. She writes the Jaran series, Crown of Stars series, Crossroads series and the Spiritwalker Trilogy. Kate began to write because she wished to escape her world in rural Oregon for a world of adventure. She even met the man who would become her husband in a swordfight. After her husband quit the police force in order to study archaeology, it took the family (including three children) to places like the Mexican ruins, to European pastry shops, and finally, Hawaii. Anita Brookner (1928-2016) was an English author, best known for her Booker Prize-winning novel Hotel du Lac. Born in London in 1928, Anita Brookner received a B.A. from King’s College, University of London, and a Ph.D in the history of art from the Courtauld Institute. Brookner taught at the University of Reading from 1959 to 1964, and was a Lecturer in Art History at the Courtauld.
