Order of Jennifer Worth Books
Jennifer Worth (1935-2011) was an English author and nurse. She is the author of the Midwife Trilogy. After working as a secretary at Dr. Challoner’s Grammar School in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, England, Jennifer trained as a nurse and began working as a midwife in London. She worked as a staff nurse in Whitechapel and as a ward sister in Bloomsbury and Hampstead. Worth wrote her memoirs of her time as a midwife, which became the Midwife Trilogy and were adapted into a TV series entitled Call the Midwife on BBC One. Jeffrey S. Stephens is an American author of thriller novels. He writes the Jordan Sandor series. A New York City native, Jeffrey graduated high school when he was 16 and went on to earn his B.A. in Creative Writing at 19 years old from Pennsylvania State University. During that time, Stephens started writing his first novel, but instead of becoming a novelist, he went to law school at Fordham University. Stephen Edward Ambrose (1936-2002) was an American author of non-fiction books who wrote biographies on U.S. Presidents Eisenhower and Nixon as well as books on American and military history. Ambrose earned his Ph.D from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1960. Besides writing biographies on Eisenhower and Nixon, he also wrote books on Crazy Horse, General Custer, D-Day, Lewis and Clark and many others. Ambrose died from lung cancer in April 2002. Laura Bradford is an American author of mystery and romance novels. She writes the Southern Sewing Circle Mysteries (as Elizabeth Lynn Casey), the Jenkins & Burns mysteries and the Amish Mysteries series. Laura has been writing ever since she was young, and at the age of 10 sent her prized second novel (O’Casey’s Wish) off to a publishing house – only to be rejected. The Boxcar Children is a series of children’s mystery novels created by American author Gertrude Chandler Warner. The series follows four orphans – Henry, Jessie, Violet and Benny Alden – who find a boxcar in the forest that they turn into their home. Not long after that, they meet their grandfather, who they had believed was a mean person but was actually a nice man. Soon, the children become amateur sleuths and go around solving the mysteries that they come across. Although adults are present in the series, the children are very much unsupervised. Order of Gertrude Chandler Warner Books
Gertrude Chandler Warner (1890-1979) was an American author of children’s mystery novels. She is best known for creating the popular Boxcar Children series. Gertrude had wanted to become a writer from when she was a young girl. She would write stories for her grandfather and give them to him as Christmas gifts. As a child, Warner would see the inside of a caboose with a stove inside and dream about living inside a train. It would be this childhood dream that she would develop into what she would ultimately be known for – The Boxcar Children. Besides writing, Warner also worked as a teacher and volunteered for various non-profit organizations. She died in 1979 at the age of 89. (more…)
