Isabel Allende is a Chilean-American author and journalist. She is currently one of the most widely read Spanish-language authors in the world – if not the most. Isabel writes based on her own personal experiences, while adding in myth and realism woven together. She began her career working for the magazines Paula and Mampato. When Allende learned that her grandfather was gravely ill, she wrote him a letter for her own peace of mind; a letter that would evolve into her novel The House of the Spirits. Her style is considered magical realism, but also contains elements of other styles. The Communion series is a series of non-fiction books (often referred to as novels) by American author Whitley Strieber. The series is based on Strieber’s experiences with abductions by non-human beings knows as “visitors” (Strieber refuses to classify them as “aliens”). The events began in December 1985 when Strieber was living in upstate New York. The novel Communion was made into a movie in 1989, which starred Christopher Walken as Strieber. (more…)

Whitley Strieber is an American author of horror, science fiction, fantasy and thriller novels and non-fiction books (largely on the paranormal topics). He writes the Communion series, which is based on his own experiences as an abductee by “visitors” (which he doesn’t conclude are necessarily aliens from outer space). Strieber graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and the London School of Film Technique, then began an advertising career that he gave up to begin writing. He is a frequent guest on the radio show Coast to Coast AM and hosts his own podcast called Dreamland – a radio show he took over from Art Bell. His books The Wolfen, The Hunger and Communion have all been made into films. Whitley lives in California with his wife (and sometimes collaborator) Anne. (more…)

The Man-Kzin Wars is a series of military science fiction anthologies and novels created by American author Larry Niven. The series is set in the same universe as Niven’s Known Space series. The stories are about the war between humans and the race known as the Kzinti. Although Niven created the series, he only wrote a few stories in the series, as he is not versed in writing military conflict. The series features stories by Niven, Poul Anderson, Jerry Pournelle, S.M. Stirling, Greg Bear, Donald Kingsbury, Thomas T. Thomas, Mark O. Palessa is an author of romance/family saga novels. She writes the Baxter Family Saga. Palessa began reading romance novels when she was 11 years old. She would later be introduced to such authors as V.C. Andrews, Barbara Taylor Bradford and Anne Rice, as well as classic novels by authors like Charles Dickens, Zora Neale Hurston and F. Scott Fitzgerald. When she was a teenager, Palessa began to write; first diary entries and then she began writing stories, from romance to supernatural and beyond. Then, her education got in the way of her writing, and so she put it aside. That was until she moved from her hometown of Miami, Florida back to the Caribbean (where she was born) and a Facebook chat with Sable Hunter that made her decide to once again pursue her writing dream.
