Harry Kemelman (1908-1996) was an American author of mystery novels. He wrote the Rabbi Small series. A native of Boston, Kemelman earned his B.A. in English Literature from Boston University and his M.A. in English philology from Harvard. From there, he began a career teaching English. Kemelman spent World War II working as a wage administrator for the U.S. Army Transportation Corps and for the War Assets Administration. Following the war, he began his writing career. (more…)

Barbara Hambly is an American author of fantasy, science fiction, mystery and historical fiction novels. She writes the Darwath, James Asher and Benjamin January series, and has contributed towards the Star Wars and Star Trek series. Barbara earned her Master’s degree in medival history from the University of California at Riverside. Before becoming a novelist, she worked as a high school teacher, model, waitress, technical editor, liquor store clerk and a karate instructor. Her science fiction novels are all set within a multiverse, with the exception of her Star Trek and Star Wars books. Barbara was once married to fellow S.F. author George Alec Effinger. Penny Vincenzi is a British author of contemporary fiction and romance novels. She is the author of the Spoils of Time trilogy. She began writing when she was nine years old, writing three copies of her own magazine by hand on carbon paper. Before becoming a published author, Penny worked at the Harrods Library in London and as a junior secretary for the magazines Vogue and Tatler. She then went on to work as a personal assistant to Marje Proops at the Daily Mirror. Penny’s next career was working for a cosmetics company. Through that, she made connections with Boots, which tied into her next move – starting Looking Good magazine with her husband Paul. In order to start the magazine, the couple had to sell their house and get a large bank loan, but risk paid off and magazine was a success. Linda Ladd is an American novelist of romance and suspense novels. She writes the Claire Morgan series. Aside from her writing career, Linda administers diagnostic developmental tests for preschool children. She began her career writing romance novels, and then after a hiatus from writing, she returned to write suspense novels. Linda loves watching any sort of crime shows, whether it be true crime shows like The First 48 or crime dramas like NCIS. She is also obsessed with the TV show Supernatural.
