The Alphas is a series of young adult novels by Canadian-American author Lisi Harrison. The Alpha Academy was founded by Shira Brazille in order to nurture the best and brightest dancers, writers, musicians and investors. The academy only houses one hundred girls, and will send anyone home at any time if they are not cutting the mustard. The series is a spin-off of The Clique series. The main characters in the series are Skye Hamilton (who originally appeared in The Clique), Allie A. Abbott, Charlie Deery, Shira Brazille, Darwin Brazille and Allie J. Abbott. (more…)
Order of Clique Books
The Clique is a series of young adult novels by Canadian-American novelist Lisi Harrison. The main characters of the series are five girls – Massie, Alicia, Dylan and Kristen (also known as The Pretty Committee) and newcomer to the school, Claire. The girls are “A-Listers” at an all-girls middle school called Octavian Country Day (OCD). The series has been adapted to direct-to-video movies by Warner Brothers. Order of Lisi Harrison Books
Lisi Harrison is a Canadian-American author of young adult and children’s novels, including her The Clique, Alphas and Pretenders series. She also writes books based on the Monster High doll line from Mattell. Lisi grew up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and moved to Montreal, Quebec when she was 18 to major in film at McGill University. After deciding she wanted to be a writer rather than a filmmaker, she moved over to Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts where she earned her BFA. From there, she got a job at MTV where she eventually became Senior Director of Development and lasted there for 12 years. Lisi is married with two children and currently lives in Laguna Beach, California where she writes eight hours a day. (more…)

The Ripley series (or “the Ripliad”) is a series of psychological thriller/suspense/crime fiction novels by American novelist Patricia Highsmith. The title character, Tom Ripley, became an orphan when he was five years old. He was then raised by his aunt in Boston, who mocked him growing up. When he was a teenager, he made an attempt to run away from his aunt to New York City, where he wound up once he reached adulthood. While the character has relationships with men, his sexuality is left ambiguous. Highsmith referred to Tom Ripley as a “suave, agreeable and utterly amoral” con artist and serial killer who always evades justice, while Roger Ebert called described him as “charming, literate, and a monster.” (more…)

Patricia Highsmith (1921-1995) was an American author of suspense, psychological thriller and crime fiction novels. Her 1950 debut novel Strangers on a Train was adapted to film by Alfred Hitchcock, while her 1955 novel The Talented Mr. Ripley was adapted to film in 1999 starring Matt Damon (as Tom Ripley), Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow.
