The Southern Sisters Mysteries is a series of cozy mystery novels by American author Anne George. The series follows a couple of sisters, Patricia Anne “Mouse” Hollowell and Mary Alice “Sister” Crane. Mouse is a former teacher, while Sister owns a country western bar. The highlight of the series is the realistic dynamic between the two sisters with completely diametrically opposed personalities. Anne based Mouse on herself and Sister on her cousin. Anne Carroll George (1927-2001) was an American author of mystery novels and poetry. She is a Pulitzer Prize nominee for her poetry collection Some of It Is True as well as an Agatha Award winner for her Southern Sisters Mysteries series. In additional to being an author, she was also a teacher. Anne George passed away in 2001 after complications from heart surgery. (more…)

The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel is a series of young adult fantasy novels by Irish novelist Michael Scott. The series begins when a pair of 15 year-old twins, Sophie and Josh, find out that one of their employers (and title character, Nicholas Flamel) is an immortal and is in grave danger without the Codex – which the twins themselves are mentioned in. Robert M. Edsel is an American author of non-fiction books. He has written about artistic treasures and monuments that were saved in and around World War II. One of his books, The Monuments Men has been optioned for film by George Clooney (who will write, produce, direct and star in the film). Before becoming an author, Edsel was a nationally ranked tennis player and worked in the oil exploration industry. He is also the founder of the Monuments Men Foundation for the Preservation of Art. Jordan Belfort is an American author of non-fiction books. Belfort founded the brokerage firm Stratton Oakmont, during which time he partied hard and got addicted to drugs. He has reportedly been sober since 1998. In 1999, Belfort was indicted for securities fraud and money laundering and served 22 months in federal prison and ordered to pay $110 million in restitution.
