Mari Jungstedt is a Swedish novelist of crime fiction as well as a journalist. She writes the Inspector Anders Knutas series. The series has been adapted into the German TV series titled “Der Kommissar und das Meer” as well as for Swedish television. In the past, Mari has worked as a reporter on Swedish radio and television and also appeared on the TV4 daily talk show Forkvall as a presenter. Ricky Ricotta’s Mighty Robot is a series of children’s novels by American author Dav Pilkey. Ricky is a mouse who, along with his robot, saves the world from a different villain every book. Ricky Ricotta lived a lonely mouse in Squeakyville, where he was bullied during school. A mad scientist named Dr. Stinky McNasty made himself a robot to destroy Earth, but when the robot refused, McNasty zapped the robot with a gun. Captain Underpants is a series of children’s novels by American author Dav Pilkey. The series follows two best friends, George Beard and Harold Hutchins. Together, they create a comic book character named Captain Underpants. They end up convincing their principal (Mr. Krupp) that he is Captain Underpants, and he becomes the real-life Captain Underpants. He reverts to Mr. Krupp when water is thrown on him. (more…)

Dav Pilkey is an American author and illustrator of children’s books. He is best known for his Captain Underpants series, and also is the author of the Ricky Ricotta, Dragon’s Tales, Dumb Bunnies and Big Dog & Little Dog series. Dav suffers from ADHD and is dyslexic. This often caused him to be put in the hallway during class, leading to the creation of the Captain Underpants character. His Dragon’s Tales series has been adapted to a Canadian stop-motion animated series called “Dragon.” (more…)

Order of Chanur Saga Books
The Chanur Saga is a series of science fiction/space opera novels by American author C.J. Cherryh. The series is set in Cherryh’s Alliance-Union universe on the other side of Earth from those novels. The series deals with the linguistic and psychological differences between the various civilizations featured, such as how the seven races who inhabit the area of space known as “The Compact” learn how to deal with a new race of alien called “the human.” The books also contain a commentary on gender politics, flipping the gender roles around. Order of Alliance-Union Books
The Alliance-Union Universe is a series of science fiction novels by American novelist C.J. Cherryh. The novels set in this universe range between space opera and hard science fiction. In the series, space stations have been privatized by the Sol Corporation, and are being built increasingly further away from Earth. Those stationed at the various locations all eventually develop their own unique identities and cultures. Tensions develop and some of the colonists break off of the Earth Company and begin to engineer an army of clones, which starts a war between the Company and the independent Union. (more…)
Order of C.J. Cherryh Books
C.J. Cherryh is an American author of science fiction and fantasy novels. She is the creator and author of the Alliance-Union universe (including the Chanur Saga), the Merovingen Nights series, Fortress/Tristen series and the Foreigner series. In her style of writing, the story is narrated in the third person, but the only things written about are through the eyes of the main character. She focuses on the themes of politics, militarism and outsiders trying to fit in in a new, different culture. Cherryh lives near Spokane, Washington with fellow sci-fi/fantasy author and artist Jane Fancher. (more…)

We are all very sad at the passing of Vince Flynn. (News: Vince Flynn Passes Away)
I was a huge Vince Flynn fan. I still remember reading Transfer of Power, the first Mitch Rapp book. I liked it so much, that despite there being a huge thunderstorm outside, I ran up to the local bookstore getting soaked just so I could buy the 2nd book in the series.
There’s no doubt that Vince Flynn redefined the spy thriller genre.
