New Harry Hole Novel Coming Fall 2013

Random House Group UK has announced the publication of a new novel featuring Harry Hole by Norwegian author Jo Nesbo.

The novel will be titled Police and will be published by the Harvill Secker imprint in Autumn 2013. The book will pick up where the previous book, Phantom left off. (more…)

Penguin and Random House To Merge

A humungous deal that will merge Patricia Cornwell and Nora Roberts publisher Penguin and E.L. James and George R.R. Martin publisher Random House. The new publishing giant would publish a quarter of all books in the United States.

If approved by regulators, the merger would combined British-owned Pearson and German-owned Bertelsmann – the parent companies of the publishing houses. (more…)

Peter Jackson: “Stephen Colbert is the Biggest Tolkien Geek”

The Colbert Report host Stephen Colbert has made no secret about the fact that he is a huge fan of J.R.R. Tolkien. He’s even shown off his precious Aragorn’s sword on his show.

“I have never met a bigger Tolkien geek in my life,” Hobbit director Peter Jackson told Entertainment Weekly. “Philippa Boyens is our resident Tolkien expert, and when Stephen came down to visit the set, we put him head to head with Philippa on a Tolkien quiz — and Stephen triumphed. (more…)
