Order of Victoria Holt Books


Eleanor Burford Hibbert (1906-1993) was a British author of historical fiction, gothic fiction and romance novels. She was an extremely prolific author who wrote under several pseudonyms, including Victoria Holt, Jean Plaidy and Philippa Carr (her most famous ones). She also used the pen names Eleanor Burford (her birth name), Elbur Ford, Kathleen Kellow, Anne Percival and Ellalice Tate. Jean Plaidy was used for her novels about the regency, whereas Victoria Holt was used for gothic romance. Her historical novels as Plaidy were praised for their accuracy and quality of writing. Eleanor is the author of many series, including (but not limited to) the Tudor Saga, Daughters of England, Stuart Saga, Georgian Saga, Plantagenet Saga and Queens of England series. Among her inspirations were the Brontes, Charles Dickens and Leo Tolstoy. She died in 1993 while on a cruise between Greece and Egypt. (more…)

He has also produced several TV shows (including MacGyver) and directed films such as Cop and a Half with Burt Reynolds. Raylan Givens is a fictional character created by American author Elmore Leonard, featured in a series of crime fiction novels. Raylan made to jump from the written page onto the screen when Graham Yost created the Justified FX television series on, based on the Elmore Leonard short story Fire in the Hole. Raylan is a former Marine, now a Deputy U.S. Marshal, about 40 years old and always wears his trademark cowboy hat. He is an expert marksman and a fast draw. While authors aren’t always pleased with how their work is adapted, Leonard considers the Raylan Givens portrayal (by actor Timothy Olyphant) to be “perfect.” The novel Pronto was also adapted to a made for TV movie.
