Bestselling Indie Author Turns Down 7-Figure Deal

Believe it or not, not all authors are looking to cash-in at the first opportunity at the expensive of losing their creative freedom.

Some authors, like independent author Ruth Cardello – a New York Times Bestseller, prefer to work independently and can even be quite successful. Ruth recently turned down a seven-figure book deal.

Fellow author Jeff Rivera recently interviewed the teacher-turned-author about her success, promoting books and how she juggles being an author along with being a mom.

Surprise Suzanne Collins Book Cracks Bestseller List

Seeing The Hunger Games books on a bestseller list is no surprise, but this week Gregor the Overlander, the first book in Suzanne CollinsUnderland Chronicles has broken onto USA Today’s bestseller list.

The book, which was released in 2004, is at #11 on the list. It made the list one time before, all the way back in 2007. (more…)

Top Out-Of-Print Books For 2012

98-99% of all books are currently out of print, for various reasons. It could be that they aren’t popular to justify printing them continually, maybe the author doesn’t want the book out there. BookFinder.com has put out a list of the top 13 out-of-print books ranked by popularity (or demand). Hopefully we’ll be seeing some of these books back on shelves, perhaps with snazzy new covers.

And think, if you have one of these books on your bookshelf collecting dust, maybe you might want to get rid of it and make some cash. Sex by Madonna can go for $75 used, and four times that new!

Notable fiction works on the list include Rage and My Pretty Pony by Stephen King, Promise Me Tomorrow by Nora Roberts, Mandingo by Kyle Onstott and Dark Carnival by Ray Bradbury.

“The Girl Who Played With Fire” Moving Slowly

The sequel to The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and second movie in the Millennium series, The Girl Who Played With Fire, doesn’t look to be hitting screens for quite a while. The idea was for it to be released in late 2013, but screenwriter Steven Zaillian is still writing the screenplay. (more…)

“Jack Ryan” Gets Release Date

It appears that the new Jack Ryan film adaptation, titled Jack Ryan, has a release date of December 25th, 2013 from Paramount.

The film will star Star Trek’s Chris Pine, as well as Keira Knightley and Kenneth Branagh (who will also direct). Pine and Knightley are signed on for two more films in hopes of a franchise. (more…)
