Branagh To Play Villain in New Jack Ryan Film?

Although the new Jack Ryan reboot has not been the fastest moving film project, with the announcement of Kenneth Branagh (Thor) directing, things are definitely starting to pick up.

In addition to being a director, Branagh is also an actor. Therefore, he is “in talks” to play the villain in the film. The character’s name is Viktor Stazov, who is a “financial wiz who, with the help of the Russian government, masterminds a plot to devalue American currency and thus destroy the U.S. economy.” (more…)

Film Based On Ludlum’s “The Osterman Weekend” Casting Soon

With the August 10 release of The Bourne Legacy film looming, Robert Ludlum fans will be pleased to hear of another one of Ludlum’s novels is set to be made into a movie.

Lionsgate has announced that they will be casting The Osterman Weekend next week. The screenplay was written by Jesse Wigutow. The novel has already been adapted into a movie, by legendary director Sam Peckinpah back in 1983. It was the Wild Bunch director’s final film. (more…)

Scholastic Updates U.S. Figures For “The Hunger Games”

Scholastic has announced that over 50 million copies of the popular The Hunger Games series have been sold in print and digital formats. Since the series first came out in Fall 2008, the series has seen steady growth in sales.

The 50 million figure includes 23 million copies of The Hunger Games, 14 million of Catching Fire and 13 million of Mockingjay. (more…)
