Enid Blyton Books To Be Updated?

Yesterday, we alluded that Hachette UK had interesting plans for the Enid Blyton estate. It appears as if some of those plans have become apparent.

Hachette plans to not only update the illustrations in the Enid Blyton backlist, but they intend to update the language used in the books. And as it is 2012, they look to have her books out in eBook format as well. They had already raised some eyebrows by updating The Famous Five under Chorion’s license. (more…)

Mistborn Fantasy Novels To Be Adapted Into Video Game

Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn series is going to be hitting shelves in Fall 2013 — video game shelves, that is!

Sanderson recently announced that Little Orbit Games will be developing a video game adaptation of Mistborn called Mistborn: Birthright. Little Orbit has in the past made licensed video games of Young Justice and Sherlock Holmes. (more…)

“The Hunger Games” Has Huge Opening Weekend

Expectations were high for the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins‘ book The Hunger Games, but it more than lived up to every one of them. Universal and Focus Features Get the Rights to “Fifty Shades of Grey”

As we expected, a deal has been made with E.L. James and her Fifty Shades of Grey series. Universal Pictures and Focus Features have acquired the rights to adapt the series. Considering rumours have it that Sony bid $5 million and didn’t get the rights, we can only imagine what this eBook series sold for. (more…)

Hachette UK Buys Rights to Enid Blyton Properties

Hachette UK is the new owner of the rights of Enid Blyton‘s estate with the exception of the Noddy Library (those rights were recently purchased by Classic Media).

Hachette Children’s Books rep Marlene Johnson said, “I am absolutely delighted that we have acquired world rights to publish Enid Blyton. Hodder was her original publisher, so it is fitting that her whole portfolio has come home and will now be published and managed under one roof. We will be honouring existing contracts and will be in touch with licensees in due course.” (more…)

Lincoln Child is an American author who is the writing partner of Douglas Preston. Preston and Child have written many different novels together, which are techno-thriller and horror novels – mostly notably the Pendergast series.
